In March 2019, seven orphans aged one to eight were trapped in a hopeless situation in al-Hol in northeastern Syria. The association was founded on a need that the children's grandfather and co-founder of this NGO, Patricio Gálvez, sought to save his grandchildren in the spring of 2019. At that time there was no organization like Repatriate The Children. The authorities and organizations he contacted said they could not help. At that time, none of them had the experience, knowledge, or contact network that Repatriate The Children now possesses. Repatriate the Children´s function is to support, advise and provide knowledge for relatives of children in north east Syria, politicians and decision-makers, authorities, non-profit organizations and the media.
