The Norwegian Nurses Organisation (NNO) was founded in 1912 and is a national professional organisation and trade union representing 126 000 registered nurses, midwives, and nursing students in Norway. To protect nurses’ interests is one of NNO’s core tasks. Through its work, NNO aim to strengthen nurses’ rights and recognition as a profession. As a double mandated organisation, NNO focuses its work on social policy/socio-political issues, nursing politics, and interest policy.
