About
Burma Children Medical Fund, along with sister organisation Health for All Foundation (HFA-BCMF), supports access to healthcare and human rights for vulnerable people in Burma and Thailand. BCMF was established in 2006 in response to the increasing number of children on the Thai-Burma border who required complex medical treatment and surgery that is not available at local clinics or hospitals. Prior to BCMF being established, children who required surgery had their symptoms treated and lived either severely incapacitated lives or died prematurely as a result. Since 2006, BCMF has expanded from a focus on children and youth to serving patients regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, or political or religious affiliation. In response to the demand from underserved communities in Thailand, HFA was registered in Thailand in late 2024 and fully launched in 2025. HFA-BCMF assists individuals with a wide range of health conditions and diseases requiring surgery through Referral Services Program. Patients from Burma and Thailand are sent to partner hospitals in Thailand, with HFA-BCMF supporting the costs of surgical treatment, diagnostic tests, and other social support services. HFA-BCMF also strengthens capacity and improves access to medical care in vulnerable communities in Burma and Thailand through several health-related outreach projects such as wheelchair distribution, eye screenings, 3D prosthetics and orthotics, and community health education. In response to increasing requests from partner organisations and vulnerable communities affected by Burma’s civil war, Humanitarian Support and stationery support provide remote clinics, IDP camps in Burma, refugee camps in Thailand, and other vulnerable migrant and refugee communities in both countries with medical and non-medical support. HFA-BCMF will continue working with partners to improve lives of vulnerable communities in Burma and Thailand by facilitating access to health care and human rights.
