1949 Singapore Branch of the British Red Cross first established; operations centre started in a borrowed office in Empress Place. 1973 Incorporated by an Act of Parliament on 6 April. The President of the Republic of Singapore, Mr Benjamin Sheares became the Patron and President of the Society. SRC was admitted into the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) as its 120th member in November.
