Amal Healing & Advocacy Center (AHAC) is a women-led organization that specialized in empowering women, who have experienced psychological symptoms resulting from social and sexual violence within their family or community. AHAC seeks to contribute to creating a change in the status of women in Syrian society and to support them in becoming more aware of their rights and opportunities. The motivation to start the organization was led by the desire to contribute to building a Syrian society that is based on fair and equal human rights based in an independent civil state. The organization was founded in 2014 in Antakya, Turkey, which is located near the Syrian-Turkish border and strives to respond to the needs of Syrian refugee women, survivors of violence in particular.
