The Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) is the Middle East’s most prominent fellowship of churches, and is linked to the global modern ecumenical movement that gave rise to the World Council churches and other regional ecumenical councils. A representative organization supporting the faith of the Christians in the Middle East, MECC is made up of the four principal groups of churches in the region: the Eastern Orthodox Churches, the Oriental Orthodox Churches, the Catholic Churches, and the Protestant Churches. The organization is headquartered in Beirut, and has offices in Cyprus, Amman, Cairo, and Damascus. In addition to its ecumenical work, MECC also has a significant humanitarian program that is providing support to vulnerable populations across the region. MECC is a member of the ACT Alliance.
